HEART OF STONE: This song has sort of a funk R&B beat. Instrumentally its a bit sparse because its all about the lyrics. Its about the frustration of trying to hold together a doomed relationship. You can tell that the person has suffered the humiliation of giving and not getting sensitive love in return. I've always tried to write this concept into songs and I'm still trying. Heart of Stone is pretty close to succeeding. This is the firs song I've recorded in all my albums where I got to play the lead guitar on the solo. It's a great feeling. I worship the electric guitar but never could conquer it. I play at it and keep trying. I leave the real playing to the great guitar players. I love the to sing this song - it goes deep into my feelings.
