I HAD A DREAM: This acoustic rock song tells of the time I was traveling back and forth between Saint John, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia. I was a music performer singer songwriter on the popular CBC TV shows Music Hop and Singalong Jubilee which were produced out of Halifax. I was in my early twenties. We used to ride the trains and I'll never forget the powerful sounds of the engines. These were not the diesels but coal burning steam shunting engines and there was something so exciting and romantic about riding them. The music of I Had A Dream with its tough electric guitar base and vocal oohs are representative of the trains. I traveled with some of the musical cast of the Don Messer Jubilee show like Charlie Chamberlain who would give me tips on being a trouper in show business. I had a dream of making it and when I was on the train I felt like I was mobile and on my way to my goals to the sound of the clickity-clack of the tracks. Those were great times. I followed my dreams and reached most of my musical goals but I'll never forget singing and playing my flat top and riding the trains.
