LIKE INNOCENCE: Like Innocence is more like a classical composition than a song in two parts. It seems to have medieval overtones. It’s about lost love, deja vu and reincarnation. The first part is in the present. We see two strangers approaching each other in a square in Rome or London or Lisbon. The man and the women seem to be aware of something larger drawing them together across the flat stones toward the Cathedral. She stops and then starts feeding the pigeons. He approaches and they start to feel as if they know each other and then they are struck by a feeling of deja vu. The scene changes in the second part like in a dream - a step back in time - how they were in love from a distance in the spirit of innocence never being together - the frustration they felt. He was an older man in Spain or Portugal from peasant stock. He climbs a tree at night in the moonlight by a great house of a very rich man to watch a young girl dance naked on her balcony just for him - her love and hero. He is so in love with her beauty and innocence and is also innocent in his love for her and has no feelings of guilt being he is twice her age. He knows in his heart he will never be with her because she is guarded and lives in a silver ca-coon with high walls protected by a stern father. He is poor and she is rich her father would have him killed if he approached her. Now these two hearts are about to meet again on common ground, across time, and the long wait is over.
